A friend of mine had her son taking surf lessons with The Wahine Project, and after learning about their mission, we decided to volunteer at their fundraising event. Why not help a good cause and the local community while visiting California? I volunteered to take some event photos while my friend help organize the events. They held a two day fundraising event called Wahinepalooza with live music and fun games for the locals and kids in the area. We had a great time, I got some fun shots and made some new friends.
Founded by Surfer and Ocean lover Dionne Ybarra, a non-profit project focused on empowering groms (young surfers) and spreading ocean awareness to all. The Wahine Project has now grown into Surf Retreats for families, surf moms and a head quarters to meetup and refill sustainable products at Alma Del Mar in Salinas, California.
